ANTIQUE JEWELRY
After we first moved in, my wife kept bothering me over and over about installing home security. It was our first home and she was really worried about protecting everything. However, she most worried about the antique jewelry her grandmother had passed on to her before she died. These pearls and gems had been in the family for generations and, while she didn’t know their exact worth, they were enough to probably buy another house. She was also concerned about keeping the TV, stereo, and computer safe, though, admittedly, I’d be really upset if someone broke in and made off with my Xbox. The problem was that we were tapped for money after the big move and we needed to save up again for at least a few months before making any other major investments. We also lived in a really nice suburb. Most of our neighbors were senior citizens and they rarely bothered us about anything. I suppose a welcome card or some a batch of brownies to welcome us into the neighborhood would have been nice, but we were hardly the Cleavers. Naturally, as you can imagine, our house was broken into, but my wife’s jewelry wasn’t taken. It was safe inside a box under the floorboards of our bedroom. The thief probably didn’t even know it was there. Instead, he took my Xbox.
